Description:
The purpose of the job is to lead and oversee the strategic analysis of market trends, competition and customer behaviour to drive business growth and success of Central Energy Fund’s strategic.
Requirements:
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum 11 years of which 3-5 years must be at Senior Managerial experience preferably in the energy sector.
Master’s degree (NQF level 9) in the relevant field as an added advantage.

Practical skills, experience and demonstrable track record in managing and understanding the energy industry

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
Thought leadership
Design and implement a Group Energy Leadership Centre of Excellence to provide Thought Leadership as expressed in the longer-term Vision 2025 for the Group and to the shareholder.
Provide leadership to help the Group optimize energy related information.
Create and maintain a Knowledge Management System and library that will support critical thought leadership and build and help maintain corporate memory.
Provide energy sector intelligence on an on-going basis.
Skills and knowledge Transfer Thought leadership
Act as internal learning champion with the CEF Group and leadership team to ensure energy learning and development needs are analysed, prioritized and satisfied.
Administer and manage energy related training activities with the Group including development of work practices, building curriculums and delivering hands on and advanced intellectual training.
Create and maintain instructional materials to include energy documentation, quick reference materials and training resources.
Work with functional or cross-functional teams looking both inside and outside the organization to capture new energy knowledge and best practices.
Provide holistic energy sector mentorship to identified staff at different levels within the organization.
Help coordinate or present any applicable employee energy sector awareness training.
Create and manage a Group Energy learning portal by ensuring that it is relevant and up to date. This should be linked to the Group Knowledge Management system.
Scenario development
Conduct detailed scenario planning initiatives on the broad energy prospects and trends to support the Group planning process.
Translate scenarios into Macro and Micro market variables by identifying appropriate energy drivers associated with the scenario planning exercise.
Provide support to the various organizational work-streams on understanding and analyzing outputs from scenario development exercises.
Advisory service
Provide high level holistic energy advisory expertise to Group and shareholder particularly in the holistic energy sector planning function.
Provide technical energy support to the Shareholder and other relevant stakeholders in particular in relation to the national energy planning function.
Represent the Energy Advisory area in all relevant forums and meetings to ensure good flow of information.
Interact with Group and shareholder on their needs for energy sector advice, and then provide advice that is non-partisan and can be trusted.
Finance
Prepare, manage and monitor the operational budget of the Energy Advisory area, to ensure effective and efficient functioning and cost control.
Analyse trends, operating requirements and prepare operating plans/estimates to determine funding for the financial year.
Evaluate the area’s performance against the approved budget and addressing deviations/variances.
Monitor, recommend and implement corrective measures to rectify deviations/acts contrary to budgetary provisions, financial regulations, audit requirements and departmental procedures.
Authorise payment requests, requisitions, etc. regarding expenditure as delegated.
